Indonesia has many culture. Some of that had already adopted by other countries, such as Batik, Angklung, Reog Ponorogo, Pendet dance, etc. Indonesia is also has some tradition of societies. For example, sungkeman and sniff the old people’s hand as a honour symbol. I wish, the tradition could be adopted by other countries.
Sungkeman is a tradition to honour our parent. It’s usually done by a son/daughter when Lebaran day comes. A son or daughter kneel under their parent’s leg to asked sorry. They usually cried, because they feel guilty to their parent. Except on Lebaran day, sungkeman is also do when a son or daughter will marry. They do it as a symbol for ask permission for married.
About sniff the old people’s hand, it is also can be adopt the other countries because, sniff the old people’s hand is showed that we have respect about them. Many people in this world doing their honour to the old people with hug or something like that. But, I think, it’s haven’t a special means. So, the tradition of Indonesian people to sniff the old people’s hand could be adopt by other countries.
